How the money personality quiz works
Step 1: Answer 12 quick questions
Each question describes an everyday money moment, such as payday, a surprise bill, borrowing or the big sales. Pick the answer that sounds most like you, not the one you think you should choose.
Step 2: See your money type
Next, the quiz shows your main money personality and your money mix. The mix shows how much of each type came through in your answers, because almost everyone is a blend. If a second type comes through strongly, you will see that too, such as a Planner with a Saver streak.
Step 3: Read your tips
Finally, you get your strengths, the things to watch out for, your money motto and three practical tips. You also get one habit to try this week and advice for sharing money with a partner. On top of that, you can pop in your take home pay and bills to see a suggested money setup in pounds, plus your emergency fund target. Each tip links to a free tool or guide on Iceburg Wealth, so you can act on it straight away.
Step 4: Share your result
If you like, download your result as an image or copy a link to send to a friend or partner. Comparing results is a great way to start a money conversation at home.
The four money personalities explained
The Saver
Savers feel safest when their savings are growing. They rarely overspend and usually have a buffer for emergencies. However, they can keep too much in cash, where inflation slowly eats away at its value, and they sometimes feel guilty spending money they can easily afford.
The Spender
Spenders see money as something to enjoy, and they are often generous with friends and family. The downside is that there may be little left when a big bill lands. A simple standing order on payday can make a huge difference here.
The Avoider
Avoiders find money stressful, so they try not to think about it. This is far more common than people admit. The good news is that automation does most of the hard work, so you do not need to become a budgeting expert to get on top of things.
The Planner
Planners like to know where every pound is going. They set goals, budget carefully and often invest for the long term. Their main risk is being so focused on the plan that they forget to enjoy life today.

Why your money personality matters
Most money advice assumes everyone thinks the same way, but we do not. A Saver and a Spender can earn exactly the same and end up in very different places. Knowing your type helps you choose habits that work with your personality rather than against it.
For example, a Spender might automate savings so the money is gone before it can be spent. Meanwhile, an Avoider might set one ten minute money check each week. If you want a simple place to start, the free MoneyHelper budgeting guides are backed by the government and cover the basics well.
Can your money personality change?
Yes. Your answers to a money personality quiz today reflect where you are now. A new job, a baby, a house move or paying off debt can all shift how you feel about money. That is why it is worth taking the quiz again every year or so.
In addition, many couples have different money types. If you share finances, try taking the quiz separately and then compare. Our free budget planner is a good next step for working out a plan you both agree on.
