Reddit Shares: Is RDDT Worth Buying?

I used Reddit for years before it ever crossed my mind that it could be a serious investment. You probably have too. You have gone down a rabbit hole at midnight trying to find out if a certain car is reliable, or asked a subreddit full of strangers whether your business idea is any good. That is what Reddit is. Real people, real answers, no agenda. Turns out that is worth an absolute fortune if you know how to monetise it. Since going public in 2024, Reddit shares have been one of the more interesting stories on the US stock market, and here is my honest take on whether RDDT deserves a spot in your portfolio.

What Reddit Actually Is as a Business

Most people think of Reddit as a website. As a business it is something more interesting than that. It is a network of communities covering millions of topics, with over 400 million people showing up every single week. That audience is not scrolling mindlessly. They are engaged, they are there for a reason, and they are often about to make a decision about something. That makes them very valuable to advertisers.

Advertising is where most of Reddit’s revenue comes from right now. However, there is a second thing happening that I think a lot of people are sleeping on. Reddit has been building up nearly 20 years worth of genuine human conversation. Billions of posts and comments, real people talking about real things. The companies training AI systems need exactly that kind of data and they are paying serious money for it. Reddit is licensing that data to major tech firms and it is becoming a meaningful chunk of revenue on top of the advertising business.

Reddit trades on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker RDDT. If you are based in the UK you can buy Reddit shares through any mainstream platform that offers US stock access.

The Share Price Has Been All Over the Place

No point pretending otherwise. Over the past 12 months RDDT has traded anywhere between around $95 and $283. That is not a typo. The stock has more than doubled at its peak and fallen sharply at other points. As of early 2026 it sits at around $149, which gives Reddit a market cap of roughly $28 billion.

If that kind of volatility makes you uncomfortable, be honest with yourself about it before you buy. This is not a stock you can ignore for six months and check in on casually. That said, the people who follow it professionally are largely positive. As of early 2026, 20 out of 31 analysts covering RDDT rate it a buy, with a consensus price target of around $223. There is real upside priced in if the business keeps delivering.

The Financial Numbers Are Hard to Ignore

This is the bit that got my attention when I first looked properly at Reddit shares. Because the growth is not marginal. It is exceptional.

Revenue That Keeps Accelerating

Q1 2025 revenue was $392 million, up 61% year on year. Q2 2025 came in at $500 million, up 78%. Q3 2025 hit $585 million, up 68%. Three consecutive quarters of 60% plus growth. Full year 2024 revenue was $1.3 billion, itself up 62% on the year before. For a company worth $28 billion to be growing at that rate is genuinely unusual. Most businesses at this scale are lucky to grow at 10% a year.

It Has Finally Stopped Losing Money

Reddit spent years being profitable at everything except actually making a profit. That has changed. Net income in Q1 2025 was $26 million. By Q2 2025 it was $89 million. By Q3 2025 it reached $163 million with a 28% net margin. Gross margins are around 91%, which is what you get from a business where the cost of serving an extra million users is essentially nothing. There is also $2.2 billion sitting in cash on the balance sheet. Reddit is not going anywhere and it does not need anyone else’s money to grow.

More People Using It Every Quarter

Daily active unique users hit 108 million in Q1 2025 and grew to 116 million by Q3 2025. International growth is where a lot of the upside sits, with Reddit now available in 30 languages after a major push on machine translation. The US still drives the majority of revenue but the gap is closing. More users means more data, more ad inventory, and more licensing value. It all compounds together.

The Risks Worth Knowing Before You Buy

Right, because it is not all good news and anyone telling you otherwise is selling something.

You Are Paying a Premium

At $28 billion market cap, Reddit is not cheap relative to where it is today financially. You are paying for where the business is going, not where it is right now. That is fine if the growth continues. However, if revenue growth slows even slightly the market will punish it hard. These kinds of stocks do not get the benefit of the doubt when they disappoint. A single bad quarter can wipe 20% off the price in a day. Go in knowing that.

Google Sends a Lot of Its Traffic

A big portion of Reddit’s visitors arrive because a Reddit thread showed up in their Google search results. That has been a huge tailwind. However, Google has been building out AI-generated answers that answer questions directly without sending anyone anywhere. If that eats into Reddit’s search traffic it would hurt the business. It is not a theoretical risk either. It is something the market actively worries about every time Google updates its search product.

The Stock Moves Aggressively

RDDT has a beta above 2, which means it moves roughly twice as hard as the average S&P 500 stock on any given day. Some days it swings more than 8% between its low and its high within a single session. That cuts both ways. Bigger gains when things go well, sharper drops when they do not. Only buy what you can hold through that without doing something stupid.

There Is No Dividend

Reddit does not pay a dividend and will not be paying one any time soon. If you want income from your investments, look elsewhere. Everything here comes from the share price.

How to Buy Reddit Shares From the UK

Simple enough. RDDT trades on the NYSE and most UK platforms give you access. Here is how to do it.

Step 1: Pick a Platform

You need a platform that offers US stock access. Hargreaves Lansdown, AJ Bell, and InvestEngine are three solid UK options. Put Reddit shares inside a stocks and shares ISA if you can. Any gains you make are completely free of UK capital gains tax, and given how much this stock can move, sheltering those gains is worth doing.

Step 2: Search for RDDT

Search for RDDT or Reddit Inc on your platform. The shares are priced in US dollars so the pound to dollar exchange rate will affect your actual return when you come to sell. Some platforms let you hold dollars directly to manage this, which is worth looking into if you plan to hold US stocks long term.

Step 3: Size Your Position Properly

Decide how much of your portfolio you want in a single volatile growth stock before you buy, not after. Reddit shares can deliver strong returns if the thesis plays out, but they will test your nerve along the way. Buy a position you can hold through a rough patch without panic selling at the bottom, because there will be rough patches.

My Honest Take on Reddit Shares

Reddit has built something genuinely difficult to replicate over nearly 20 years. Hundreds of millions of real people having real conversations. That is valuable for advertisers, valuable for AI companies, and increasingly valuable as Reddit builds its own products on top of it. The numbers reflect that. Revenue growing at 60% to 78% a year, properly profitable now, 91% gross margins, $2.2 billion in cash. That is not a company held together by hype.

However, the valuation is stretched, the stock is volatile, and the Google dependency is a real thing to keep in mind. This is not a set and forget holding. It needs a bit of conviction and a decent amount of patience.

For anyone building wealth over the long term who can handle some turbulence along the way, I think Reddit shares are worth taking seriously. The platform is not going anywhere, the business is genuinely improving quarter on quarter, and the AI angle gives it a growth driver that most social platforms simply do not have. That combination is hard to find.
